在之前的文章裡提過,Randolph St.曾經是一個" 有很多 Whole Sale Store、小工廠、修車廠的地方。在 2011 The Michelin Guide也形容裡是 The West Loop was once home to smoke-spewing factories and warehouses, but walk through this natty neighborhood now, and you'll find young professionals instead of struggling immigrants. 這次在這裡發現的 J.P.GRAZiANO,以前就是這樣的地方。在他們加的網站可以看到這段敘述
“In 1937 my great grandfather started JP Graziano Grocery Company on Randolph Street in Chicago’s West Loop shortly after arriving in America from Italy. He had a few simple goals in mind: place an emphasis on customer service and hand pick Italian food suppliers who offer the highest quality products. Four generations later, I am honored to carry on the family tradition of customer service, authentic foods, and superior quality. ”
是的,這裡以前是 Grocery Company,到現在這裡還是保持著這樣的味道,比起小餐館,我更覺得這個地方是小倉庫,連付錢的地方都保持著原來工廠裡總務部門的味道(除了Randolph St. 在UIC 附近的小意大利區也可以看到這樣的地方!!)

裡面放了好多種肉,由Capicola 脂肪裡帶出香料氣息;百年 Volpi 的 Genoa salami 帶來發酵和Garlic, Salty 味,Mortadella 則提供更多肉的味道,加上北義 Provolone 帶來的口感。鼻子聞到肉的香氣,佩着嘴巴滿滿的甜;包覆內餡的也是用真的麵包,而不是用軟軟的考麵團,咀嚼着扎實又香氣,味道十足的Sandwich,那天的中午只有滿足可以形容。

這天中午,因為吃膩了 Subway,想到以前一直隔著窗戶看到裡面用讓人懷念的切肉機(以前玩這種機器的時候被切到過指頭:P)現點現著切肉片 ,所以遠遠地跑來這裡,想吃吃看這家的東西。記得以前看食譜的時候,裡面寫着 ”肉的新鮮度非常重要,就算是處理過的肉類也是!!” 嗯,這句話說得很真實,這天拿到的Sandwich 是來美國之後吃過最好吃的。
